Rabekind-DSR – Strip of 10 Capsules is a medication commonly used to treat conditions related to acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other stomach-related issues. It contains a combination of Rabeprazole and Domperidone, which work together to manage symptoms like heartburn, nausea, and acid indigestion.

Composition:

Each Rabekind-DSR capsule contains:

1. Rabeprazole Sodium (20 mg): Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the production of stomach acid. It blocks the proton pump in the stomach lining, which is responsible for secreting acid. This helps in healing ulcers, reducing acid reflux, and preventing damage to the esophagus.
2. Domperidone (30 mg): Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that works as a prokinetic agent. It helps speed up gastric emptying by increasing the motility of the stomach and intestines. It also reduces nausea and vomiting by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain, specifically in the area that triggers vomiting.

Uses:

Rabekind-DSR is used for:

1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): It helps relieve symptoms such as heartburn and regurgitation by reducing stomach acid and promoting faster emptying of the stomach.
2. Peptic Ulcers: Rabeprazole helps heal gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers by decreasing stomach acid secretion.
3. Dyspepsia (Indigestion): It is effective in treating indigestion, particularly when it is associated with acid reflux or delayed gastric emptying.
4. Nausea and Vomiting: The Domperidone component helps reduce nausea and vomiting, particularly related to delayed gastric emptying or reflux.
5. Gastroparesis: Domperidone is used to manage gastroparesis, a condition where the stomach doesn’t empty properly, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and fullness.

Dosage:

• The typical dose for Rabekind-DSR is one capsule daily, usually before breakfast. The exact dose and duration depend on the patient’s condition and the severity of the symptoms.
• The capsule should be taken whole, without chewing or opening, as it is designed for controlled release.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Rabekind-DSR include:

• Headache.
• Diarrhea or constipation.
• Abdominal pain or discomfort.
• Dry mouth.

• Fatigue.

Serious side effects (though rare) include:

• Severe allergic reactions: Rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

• Other Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs): Combining with other PPIs can result in excessive reduction of stomach acid, leading to malabsorption of certain nutrients (e.g., vitamin B12).
• Drugs that affect heart rhythm: Caution is advised when Domperidone is taken with other medications that can prolong the QT interval (such as certain antiarrhythmic drugs or antipsychotics).
