Description
Azee 200 mg Dry Syrup – Bottle
Composition (Per 5 ml reconstituted syrup):
- Azithromycin – 200 mg
(Azithromycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the macrolide class. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thus preventing bacteria from growing and multiplying. It is effective against a wide variety of bacterial infections.)
Indications:
- Azee 200 mg Dry Syrup is commonly used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis.
- Ear infections (otitis media).
- Throat infections (pharyngitis or tonsillitis).
- Skin infections, including acne.
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia and gonorrhea.
- Gastrointestinal infections such as traveler’s diarrhea.
- Prophylaxis and treatment of infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dosage:
- As prescribed by a healthcare provider, but typical dosages include:
- Adults: The standard dose for most infections is 500 mg on the first day (as a loading dose), followed by 250 mg daily for the next 4 days. The syrup is generally for pediatric use, so adult patients may prefer other forms such as tablets.
- Children (depending on weight/age): A typical pediatric dose is 10 mg/kg on the first day, followed by 5 mg/kg daily for the next 4 days.
- The syrup should be reconstituted according to the instructions (usually with a specified amount of water to form a solution with the prescribed concentration).
Reconstitution:
- Add the recommended amount of water to the dry syrup in the bottle to form a suspension. Shake well to mix thoroughly.
- The dosage is usually measured with a proper measuring spoon or syringe for accuracy.
Storage Instructions:
- Store the bottle in a cool, dry place at room temperature (between 15°C and 25°C).
- After reconstitution, the syrup should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 5-7 days.
- Do not freeze.
Warnings:
- Prescription Required: Azee 200 mg Dry Syrup should be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
- Allergic Reactions: Azithromycin may cause allergic reactions. If you experience symptoms like a rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.
- Liver or Kidney Issues: Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease, and dosage adjustments may be required.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Azithromycin is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but it should be used only if prescribed by a doctor. It passes into breast milk, so consult your doctor if breastfeeding.
- Antibiotic Resistance: Do not use this medication for viral infections (such as the common cold or flu), as it will not be effective and may contribute to antibiotic resistance.
Important Notes:
- Side Effects: Common side effects of Azithromycin may include:
- Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain.
- Rashes or skin reactions.
- Dizziness or headache.
If any serious side effects occur, such as severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat), discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately.
- Drug Interactions: Azithromycin may interact with other medications, such as antacids containing aluminum or magnesium. Be sure to inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking.
