Sitara-M 100/500 mg (Strip of 10 Tablets) is a combination medicine prescribed for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It contains two active ingredients that work synergistically to help control blood sugar levels in adults.

Key Composition:

1. Sitagliptin (100 mg)
   • A Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that enhances the levels of incretin hormones. This helps regulate insulin release and suppresses excessive glucose production by the liver.
2. Metformin (500 mg)
   • A Biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity, and helps the body utilize glucose more effectively.

Uses:

• Treats Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults.
• Helps achieve glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled on diet, exercise, and/or monotherapy.
• Reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications such as neuropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular issues.

Dosage and Administration:

• Generally, one tablet daily with or after meals, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
• Dosage adjustments depend on individual response and medical history.

Possible Side Effects:

1. Common:
   • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, or a mild headache.
2. Rare but Serious:
   • Lactic Acidosis (linked to metformin): Symptoms include muscle pain, extreme fatigue, and breathing difficulty.
   • Pancreatitis (linked to sitagliptin): Signs include severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
