Brufen Junior Orange – Bottle of 60ml Syrup
Composition: Each 5 mL of syrup contains:
- Ibuprofen 100 mg
General Information: Brufen Junior Orange Syrup is a pediatric formulation containing ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is designed for children to help reduce pain, inflammation, and fever. Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals that promote inflammation, pain, and fever.
Uses:
- Reducing fever, such as during colds, flu, or other infections.
- Relief of mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, toothaches, and earaches.
- Pain relief from teething or immunization shots.
- Reducing inflammation in conditions like juvenile arthritis.
Dosage:
- For children 6 months to 12 years: The dosage is usually based on the child’s weight and age. A typical dose is 5-10 mg of ibuprofen per kilogram of body weight, every 6-8 hours as needed.
- The maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 mg per kilogram of body weight.
For example:
- For children aged 1-3 years (weighing about 10-14 kg), the usual dose is 5 mL (100 mg) 3 times a day.
- For children aged 4-6 years (weighing about 15-20 kg), the usual dose is 7.5 mL (150 mg) 3 times a day.
Important Notes:
- Shake the bottle well before use to ensure even distribution of the medicine.
- Use the provided measuring spoon or syringe for accurate dosing.
- Take with food or milk to reduce the risk of stomach upset.
- Always ensure the correct dosage for the child’s age/weight and never exceed the recommended amount.
- If the child has a history of gastrointestinal issues, kidney problems, or other medical conditions, consult a doctor before use.
- Do not use for more than 3 days for fever or 5 days for pain unless advised by a doctor.
Precautions:
- Avoid giving Brufen Junior Syrup to children with known allergies to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs.
- Use with caution in children who have asthma or other respiratory conditions.
- Ensure that other medications the child may be taking do not contain ibuprofen or other NSAIDs to prevent overdose.
- Discontinue use and consult a doctor if the child experiences any signs of side effects, such as rash, stomach pain, or unusual drowsiness.
Always follow the dosing instructions and consult a pediatrician if you are unsure about the correct use or have concerns regarding your child’s health.
