Description
Dolo – Bottle of 15 ml Drops
Composition: Each 1 mL of the drop contains:
- Paracetamol IP (Acetaminophen) 100 mg
General Information: Dolo is a liquid form of paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen), designed primarily for children or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Paracetamol is a commonly used analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins in the brain, which helps to reduce pain and fever.
Uses:
- Fever reduction in conditions such as flu, cold, or other infections.
- Pain relief from mild to moderate pain such as headaches, teething pain, muscle aches, or earaches.
Dosage: The dosage of Dolo drops depends on the child’s age and weight. The usual dose is 10-15 mg of paracetamol per kilogram of body weight, every 4-6 hours as needed.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose, which is usually 75 mg per kilogram of body weight per day.
Example Dosing (for children):
- For infants aged 3-6 months (weighing around 5-7 kg): Typically, the dose is 0.5-1 mL (50-100 mg) every 4-6 hours.
- For children aged 6 months to 2 years (weighing around 8-12 kg): The typical dose is 1-2 mL (100-200 mg) every 4-6 hours.
- For children aged 2-6 years (weighing around 12-20 kg): The usual dose is 2-3 mL (200-300 mg) every 4-6 hours.
Always refer to the dosing instructions on the packaging or as directed by your healthcare provider.
Important Notes:
- Shake the bottle well before use to ensure proper mixing of the medication.
- Use the provided measuring dropper or syringe to ensure accurate dosing.
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage of paracetamol, as overdose can cause liver damage.
Precautions:
- Do not use this product if the child has any liver or kidney disorders unless advised by a doctor.
- If the child is taking any other medications containing paracetamol, ensure the total dosage does not exceed the safe daily limit.
- Avoid alcohol while using paracetamol as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
- Consult a healthcare provider if the child has any underlying medical conditions or if symptoms persist for more than 3 days.
Side Effects: Paracetamol is generally safe when used as directed, but in rare cases, side effects may include:
- Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
- Stomach upset or nausea
- Liver-related symptoms (yellowing of the skin or eyes in case of overdose)
If any of these symptoms appear, discontinue use and seek immediate medical help.
Always consult a healthcare provider before using Dolo drops, particularly if the child has other health issues or is taking other medications.
