Description

Ventryl Syrup – 100 ml Bottle

Composition (Per 5 ml):

  • Chlorpheniramine Maleate – 2 mg
(Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms like itching, swelling, and runny nose. It is used to treat allergy symptoms such as hay fever, allergic rhinitis, and other allergic conditions.)
  • Ammonium Chloride – 100 mg
(Ammonium chloride is an expectorant that helps loosen mucus in the airways, making it easier to clear from the lungs. It is commonly used to treat coughs, colds, and respiratory conditions associated with thick mucus.)
  • Sodium Citrate – 60 mg
(Sodium citrate is used as an alkalinizing agent, helping to maintain the pH balance in the body. It can help in soothing the throat and reducing irritation caused by coughing.)
  • Flavored Syrupy Base – q.s. (Quantity sufficient)
(To provide the necessary flavor and consistency for the syrup.)

Indications:

Ventryl Syrup is typically used for the relief of symptoms related to:

  • Allergic conditions: Such as hay fever, allergic rhinitis, and conjunctivitis.
  • Common cold: To relieve symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, and itching.
  • Cough and respiratory issues: The syrup helps with the clearing of mucus in the airways, making it useful in treating cough, bronchitis, and other conditions that cause mucus build-up.
  • Mild sedative effects: The antihistamine component may cause drowsiness, which can help with easing discomfort caused by allergies or colds.

Dosage:

  • As prescribed by a healthcare provider, but typical dosages may include:
    • Adults and children over 12 years: 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) 3 to 4 times daily, depending on the severity of the symptoms.
    • Children (6-12 years): 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 2 to 3 times a day.
    • Children (2-6 years): 2.5 ml (half a teaspoon) 2 to 3 times a day.

Note: Always follow the dosing instructions provided by the doctor, especially for children, as improper dosing can lead to side effects.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store the bottle in a cool, dry place at room temperature (between 15°C to 25°C).
  • Do not freeze.
  • After use, ensure the bottle is tightly closed.

Warnings:

  • Prescription Required: Ventryl Syrup should only be used as directed by a healthcare provider.

  • Liver or Kidney Disease: Patients with liver or kidney problems should use this medication with caution. Dosage adjustments may be required.
  • Other Medications: Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, particularly sedatives, antidepressants, antihistamines, or alcohol, as they may increase the sedative effects of this medication.

Important Notes:

  • Side Effects: Some common side effects may include:
    • Drowsiness, dizziness, or fatigue.
