Description

Piza‑D 40/10 Tablet – Strip of 10 Tablets

Composition

Each tablet contains:

  • Pantoprazole 40 mg

  • Domperidone 10 mg

  • Excipients: q.s.

  • Colour: Titanium Dioxide IP

Dosage Form and Pharmaceutical Class

Piza‑D 40/10 is an oral combination tablet containing a proton pump inhibitor (Pantoprazole) and a prokinetic agent (Domperidone). It is commonly prescribed to treat acid‑related digestive disorders with symptoms of indigestion, reflux, and nausea.

Description

This fixed‑dose combination tablet combines:

  • Pantoprazole — Reduces production of gastric acid

  • Domperidone — Enhances gastric motility and reduces nausea

The combo provides complementary action to relieve heartburn, acid regurgitation, bloating, and discomfort due to excess acid.

Mechanism of Action

  • Pantoprazole: Blocks the gastric acid pump in stomach lining cells, significantly reducing acid secretion.

  • Domperidone: Increases movement of food through the stomach and upper gut, helping relieve feelings of fullness, bloating, nausea, and delayed gastric emptying.

Uses

Piza‑D tablets are indicated for:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

  • Heartburn and acid indigestion

  • Acid reflux with nausea or vomiting

  • Peptic ulcer symptoms

  • Delayed gastric emptying with nausea

This medicine treats symptoms arising from excess stomach acid and slowed gut movement. It is not effective for viral infections, food poisoning, or unrelated gastrointestinal disorders unless otherwise directed by a physician.

Dosage and Administration

  • Take one tablet once daily, preferably 30–60 minutes before a meal.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

  • Always follow the doctor’s instructions regarding dose and duration.

Contraindications

Piza‑D should not be taken if you:

  • Are allergic to pantoprazole, domperidone, or other components

  • Have known heart rhythm abnormalities or use medicines that affect heartbeat intervals

  • Have a history of intestinal blockage, bleeding, or perforation

  • Are under 12 years of age

Precautions

Before using Piza‑D, inform your doctor if you have:

  • Liver or kidney disease

  • Heart problems or arrhythmias

  • Electrolyte imbalances

  • A history of stomach cancer
Domperidone may cause extra‑pyramidal symptoms or changes in heartbeat in susceptible individuals, so caution is advised.

Adverse Effects

Common (mild and usually transient):

  • Headache

  • Dry mouth

  • Abdominal discomfort

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Dizziness

Less common but notable:

  • Palpitations

  • Increased heart rate

  • Sleepiness or restlessness

If severe or persistent side effects occur, consult a healthcare professional.

Drug Interactions

Some medicines may interact with Piza‑D, including:

  • Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum — take Piza‑D at different times

  • Certain heart medicines — especially those affecting heart rhythm

  • Other acid reducers or ulcer medicines
Always tell your doctor about all medications you are taking.

Use in Special Populations

  • Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed

  • Breastfeeding: Seek medical advice before use

  • Elderly: May be more sensitive to side effects

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember only if it’s not close to your next scheduled dose. Do not double up.

Overdose

Signs may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or irregular heartbeat. If an overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical help.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
