Description
Dolostat – PC 100 mg/325 mg – Strip of 10 Tablets
Composition: Each film-coated tablet contains:
- Aceclofenac 100 mg
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 325 mg
General Information: Dolostat PC is a combination medication containing aceclofenac and paracetamol, designed to provide pain relief and reduce inflammation.
- Aceclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing inflammation, pain, and swelling. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as arthritis, muscle pain, back pain, and other inflammatory disorders.
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) that works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the brain that cause pain and fever.
This combination of drugs is typically used for the relief of pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, and other musculoskeletal disorders, as well as for general pain relief.
Uses:
- Pain relief: For conditions like headaches, toothaches, muscle pain, back pain, and post-operative pain.
- Inflammation reduction: In conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions.
- Fever reduction: Paracetamol helps reduce fever associated with infections.
Dosage:
- For adults: The usual dose is 1 tablet (100 mg aceclofenac + 325 mg paracetamol) twice a day, after meals.
- Maximum dose: Do not exceed 2 tablets (200 mg aceclofenac + 650 mg paracetamol) per day.
Important Notes:
- Take with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset, especially due to aceclofenac (NSAID).
- Do not exceed the recommended dose of paracetamol (acetaminophen), as an overdose can lead to liver damage.
- Avoid alcohol while using this medication as it can increase the risk of liver damage from paracetamol.
Precautions:
- Consult a healthcare provider before using Dolostat if you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, gastritis, ulcers, or any other gastrointestinal conditions, as aceclofenac may irritate the stomach and intestines.
- People with asthma or allergic conditions should use NSAIDs like aceclofenac cautiously, as they may trigger allergic reactions.
- Do not use this medication for prolonged periods without consulting a doctor, as long-term use of NSAIDs can lead to side effects like gastrointestinal bleeding or kidney damage.
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Dolostat.
Side Effects:
- Aceclofenac (NSAID) can cause gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, and, in rare cases, more serious conditions like ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or kidney issues.
- Paracetamol is generally well-tolerated, but in high doses, it can lead to liver damage (symptoms may include yellowing of the skin or eyes).
- Allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing are rare but possible.
- Dizziness, headache, or drowsiness may occur, particularly when starting the medication.
If any of these side effects become severe, or if you experience symptoms like severe abdominal pain, vomiting, black stools, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, discontinue the medication and seek medical advice immediately.
Always follow the prescribed dosage and consult a healthcare provider if you have any concerns or if your symptoms persist.
