Blisto Trio 2 – Strip of 10 Tablets

Composition: Each tablet contains:

  • Metformin Hydrochloride IP 500 mg
  • Glimepiride IP 2 mg
  • Voglibose IP 0.2 mg

Indications: Blisto Trio 2 is primarily used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients who are inadequately controlled on diet and exercise, or those who require combination therapy for better glycemic control.

Mechanism of Action:

  1. Metformin Hydrochloride: A biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production, increases insulin sensitivity, and improves peripheral glucose uptake.
  2. Glimepiride: A sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from the beta cells of the pancreas.
  3. Voglibose: An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays carbohydrate absorption from the intestine, thus preventing sharp spikes in blood glucose levels after meals.

Dosage:

  • The dosage of Blisto Trio 2 should be as directed by the physician based on individual needs, monitoring of blood glucose levels, and response to the medication.
  • Typically, the dose can range from 1 to 2 tablets per day depending on the severity of the condition.

Usage:

  • Blisto Trio 2 tablets are usually taken orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
  • It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and avoid exceeding the recommended dose.

Precautions:

  • Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended.
  • Be cautious if the patient has renal or hepatic impairment.
  • The medication may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), particularly when used in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
  • Inform the healthcare provider about any other medications being taken, especially those used for managing blood pressure, cholesterol, or other conditions.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store Blisto Trio 2 tablets in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep protected from moisture and store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.

Side Effects:

  • Possible side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort (such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain), hypoglycemia, dizziness, or headache.
  • Consult your healthcare provider if any severe or persistent side effects occur.

Warnings:

  • Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components in the medication should not take Blisto Trio 2.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular disease, liver dysfunction, or a history of alcohol abuse.
