Blisto – 4 – Strip of 10 Tablets
Composition: Each film-coated tablet contains:
- Glimepiride IP 4 mg
- Excipients q.s. (Quantity sufficient to make up the tablet)
Indications: Blisto 4 is used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, primarily for patients whose blood glucose levels cannot be controlled with diet and exercise alone. It is used either as a monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
Mechanism of Action:
- Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas. It also improves insulin sensitivity in tissues, helping to lower blood glucose levels.
Dosage:
- The dosage of Blisto 4 should be as directed by the physician.
- Generally, the starting dose is 1-2 mg once daily. Depending on the patient’s response, the dosage may be increased up to 4-6 mg per day, but not exceeding 8 mg per day.
- It is typically taken once daily with breakfast or the first meal of the day.
Usage:
- Blisto 4 tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
- It is important to take the medication consistently as prescribed by your doctor to maintain stable blood glucose levels.
Precautions:
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur, particularly if the patient skips meals, exercises more than usual, or consumes alcohol.
- Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended.
- Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
- Notify the healthcare provider of any other medications being taken, especially those for blood pressure or other chronic conditions.
