Description
Aceclo Spas – Strip of 10 Tablets
Aceclo Spas is a combination medication containing Aceclofenac and Drotaverine Hydrochloride. It is primarily used for pain relief and the reduction of muscle spasms, particularly in conditions like musculoskeletal pain, abdominal cramping, and spasms.
Composition:
- Aceclofenac (100 mg)
- Drotaverine Hydrochloride (80 mg)
- Excipients: These are inactive substances used to help in the formulation and stability of the tablet.
What Each Ingredient Does:
- Aceclofenac (100 mg):
- Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID): Aceclofenac works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals responsible for causing inflammation, pain, and fever. It is used to relieve pain and inflammation, especially in conditions like arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, and back pain.
- Drotaverine Hydrochloride (80 mg):
- Antispasmodic: Drotaverine is a muscle relaxant that works by relaxing smooth muscles in the body, especially in the abdominal and gastrointestinal tracts. It is used to relieve muscle spasms and cramping in conditions such as abdominal pain, gastrointestinal spasms, and menstrual cramps.
Indications:
Aceclo Spas is typically prescribed for the following conditions:
- Musculoskeletal pain and inflammation: Pain associated with conditions like arthritis, back pain, and sprains.
- Abdominal cramps or spasms: Relieves cramping pain from conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastrointestinal spasms, or menstrual cramps.
- Spastic conditions: Reduces pain and discomfort due to muscle spasms.
Dosage:
- The typical dosage is 1 tablet once or twice a day, depending on the severity of the condition and your doctor’s prescription.
- It is advisable to take the medication with food to reduce any gastrointestinal irritation that might occur, especially from the NSAID component (Aceclofenac).
Common Side Effects:
While Aceclo Spas is effective for pain relief and spasms, some side effects may include:
- Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, upset stomach, indigestion, or even ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, particularly with prolonged use of Aceclofenac.
- Drowsiness or dizziness: Drotaverine, as a muscle relaxant, may cause some mild drowsiness or dizziness in certain individuals.
- Headaches: This can be a side effect of both Aceclofenac and Drotaverine.
- Skin rash or allergic reactions: Though rare, allergic reactions to either Aceclofenac or Drotaverine could occur.
- Liver or kidney issues: Prolonged use of Aceclofenac or high doses of Drotaverine may affect liver and kidney function.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Gastrointestinal Risk: NSAIDs like Aceclofenac can increase the risk of gastritis, ulcers, or gastrointestinal bleeding, especially when used long-term. It is advisable to take the medication with food or milk to reduce stomach irritation.
- Kidney and Liver Function: Use caution if you have a history of liver or kidney problems, as both Aceclofenac and Drotaverine can affect these organs, especially with prolonged use.
- Drowsiness: Drotaverine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience these effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Aceclofenac is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, due to potential risks to the fetus. It should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Always consult a healthcare provider before using any medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Allergies: If you have a known allergy to NSAIDs (such as aspirin) or to other muscle relaxants, avoid using this medication.
Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct light.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
