Reclimet-XR Forte 60/1000MG – Strip of 15 Tablets
Reclimet-XR Forte 60/1000MG is an extended-release oral medication used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It combines Gliclazide and Metformin in one tablet for better blood sugar control. This formulation is designed to provide extended-release of the active ingredients, allowing for a sustained effect over time, making it suitable for patients who require long-lasting glucose control throughout the day. The product comes in a strip of 15 tablets.
Composition:
Each uncoated tablet of Reclimet-XR Forte 60/1000MG contains:
- Gliclazide (IP): 60 mg
- Metformin Hydrochloride (IP): 1000 mg
Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, helping to lower blood glucose levels. Metformin is an insulin sensitizer that reduces glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s response to insulin, making it a cornerstone in diabetes management.
Indications and Uses:
Reclimet-XR Forte 60/1000MG is prescribed for:
- Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: It is used when lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise) are not sufficient to control blood glucose levels.
- It helps in controlling fasting blood glucose as well as post-meal blood sugar levels.
Dosage and Administration:
The typical dosage of Reclimet-XR Forte 60/1000MG is one tablet per day, usually taken with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. The dosage may be adjusted by the doctor depending on individual response, but it is important to follow the prescribed regimen to achieve the best blood sugar control.
Precautions:
- Kidney Function: As Metformin can accumulate in patients with impaired renal function, kidney function should be monitored regularly before and during treatment.
- Hypoglycemia: There is a potential for low blood sugar, particularly when combined with other antidiabetic agents or in the case of skipped meals.
- Liver Function: Reclimet-XR Forte should be used with caution in patients with liver issues.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Generally, this medication is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor for alternatives.
Side Effects:
- Gastrointestinal disturbances: Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea are common side effects, particularly with Metformin.
- Hypoglycemia: Signs of low blood sugar can include dizziness, confusion, and shaking.
- Lactic Acidosis: Rare but serious side effect associated with Metformin; symptoms include weakness, fatigue, and unusual muscle pain.
- Other side effects: Headache, dizziness, or a metallic taste in the mouth (rare).
