Dolo 120 – Bottle of 60 ml Suspension
Dolo 120 – Bottle of 60 ml Suspension
Composition: Each 5 mL of suspension contains:
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 120 mg
General Information: Dolo 120 is an oral suspension containing paracetamol, a widely used analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). Paracetamol works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the brain that promote pain, fever, and inflammation. It is commonly used to manage mild to moderate pain and reduce fever.
Uses:
- Pain relief for mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, and minor injuries.
- Fever reduction in conditions like flu, cold, or other infections.
Dosage: The dosage of Dolo 120 suspension depends on the child’s age and weight. It is important to follow the instructions on the label or as directed by your healthcare provider.
- For children aged 1-3 years (weighing around 10-15 kg): The typical dose is 5 mL (120 mg) every 4-6 hours as needed.
- For children aged 4-6 years (weighing around 15-20 kg): The typical dose is 7.5 mL (180 mg) every 4-6 hours as needed.
- For children aged 7-12 years (weighing around 21-30 kg): The usual dose is 10 mL (240 mg) every 4-6 hours, as needed.
Important Notes:
- Shake the bottle well before use to ensure the medicine is evenly distributed.
- Use the provided measuring spoon or syringe for accurate dosing.
- Take with or without food; however, if the child experiences stomach upset, consider giving it with food or milk.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage, as an overdose of paracetamol can cause severe liver damage.
Precautions:
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of paracetamol, which is generally 60 mg per kilogram of body weight per day.
- Avoid using other medications that contain paracetamol to prevent overdose.
- Use caution if the child has liver or kidney issues, or a history of gastrointestinal disorders.
- If the child is taking other medications, especially for cold or flu, consult a doctor before administering Dolo 120 to avoid duplicate dosing.
Side Effects: Paracetamol is generally well tolerated, but in rare cases, side effects may include:
- Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, swelling)
- Liver problems (especially if the recommended dose is exceeded)
- Stomach upset or nausea
If you notice any unusual symptoms, such as rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes (indicating liver issues), or persistent nausea, discontinue use and seek medical help immediately.
Always consult a healthcare provider before using Dolo 120 suspension, particularly if the child has pre-existing medical conditions or is taking other medications.
