Description
TusQ-LS – Bottle of 100 ml Syrup
TusQ-LS Syrup is a combination medication commonly used to treat cough and respiratory issues, including bronchospasm, chest congestion, and difficulty breathing. It contains a combination of Levosalbutamol, Ambroxol Hydrochloride, and Guaifenesin, which work together to provide relief from various respiratory symptoms.
Composition of TusQ-LS Syrup:
Each 5 ml of the syrup contains:
- Levosalbutamol Sulphate IP (equivalent to Levosalbutamol 1 mg):
Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, allowing them to widen and improve airflow. It is used to treat bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other conditions with difficulty breathing. Levosalbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist, which makes it effective at relieving symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. - Ambroxol Hydrochloride IP (30 mg):
Ambroxol is an expectorant and mucolytic agent. It works by breaking down the mucus in the airways, making it thinner and less sticky. This helps in clearing mucus from the respiratory tract, making it easier to breathe and reducing symptoms of congestion. It also has a cough-suppressing effect, providing relief from both productive (with mucus) and non-productive coughs. - Guaifenesin IP (50 mg):
Guaifenesin is another expectorant that helps loosen mucus and phlegm in the airways, making it easier to clear the mucus from the respiratory tract. It is commonly used to treat conditions that cause chest congestion and productive cough, such as the common cold, bronchitis, and other upper respiratory infections. - Flavoured Base (qs):
The syrup is flavoured to improve palatability, making it easier for patients (especially children) to take the medication.
Pharmacological Actions:
- Levosalbutamol:
- It is a bronchodilator that helps open up the airways and makes breathing easier by relaxing the smooth muscles in the lungs.
- Levosalbutamol is especially useful for treating conditions like asthma and COPD where airway constriction is a key issue.
- Ambroxol:
- It is a mucolytic and expectorant, which means it breaks down thick mucus and helps clear it from the airways.
- It also has a mild anti-inflammatory effect that can help reduce irritation in the airways and alleviate cough.
- Guaifenesin:
- As an expectorant, it works by loosening the mucus in the lungs, helping the body clear out the mucus and improving airflow.
- Guaifenesin is especially effective for productive coughs that are associated with conditions like colds, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
Indications:
TusQ-LS Syrup is used to treat the following symptoms and conditions:
- Cough (both productive and non-productive)

- Beta-blockers: These may reduce the effectiveness of levosalbutamol and may lead to an increase in bronchospasm.
- Other bronchodilators: Combining with other medications that relax the airways may increase the risk of side effects like rapid heart rate or tremors.
- Cough suppressants: Combining expectorants like guaifenesin with cough suppressants may reduce the effectiveness of both medications.
- MAO inhibitors (used for depression): They can interact with levosalbutamol and increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects.
Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are currently taking.
