Pan 20 Tablets are a highly effective treatment option for managing acid-related disorders such as GERD, peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. By inhibiting stomach acid production, they help heal the stomach lining, reduce symptoms of acid reflux, and improve overall digestive health. While it is typically well tolerated, it should be used as directed by a healthcare provider to avoid potential long-term side effects or interactions with other medications. Always ensure to follow your healthcare provider’s guidance for the best results.

Description

Pan 20 – Strip of 15 Tablets

Pan 20 Tablets – Strip of 15 Tablets

Composition (Per Tablet):

  • Pantoprazole Sodium (as Pantoprazole) – 20 mg
(Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of stomach acid produced. It helps treat conditions like acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and peptic ulcers by inhibiting the proton pump in the stomach lining.)

Indications:

Pan 20 Tablets are commonly prescribed for the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): A condition where acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation, and chest pain.
  • Peptic ulcers: Ulcers in the stomach lining or the upper part of the small intestine, often caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • Helicobacter pylori eradication: Used in combination with antibiotics to treat H. pylori infections, which can lead to ulcers.
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A rare condition where the stomach produces excessive amounts of acid.
  • Acid-related indigestion: For relief from acid-related symptoms like bloating, discomfort, and heartburn.

Dosage:

  • As prescribed by a healthcare provider, but typical dosages include:
    • Adults: 1 tablet (20 mg) once a day, usually taken in the morning, before meals.
    • For GERD or ulcers: The usual duration of treatment is 4-8 weeks, depending on the severity of the condition.
    • For Helicobacter pylori eradication: Typically combined with antibiotics, such as amoxicillin and clarithromycin, for a course of 7-14 days.

Note: Always follow the specific dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store the tablets in a cool, dry place at room temperature (between 15°C and 25°C).
  • Keep the tablets in their original packaging to protect them from moisture and light.
  • Do not freeze.

Warnings:

  • Prescription Required: Pan 20 Tablets should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
  • Prolonged Use: Prolonged use of Pantoprazole (beyond 8 weeks) may increase the risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, and low magnesium levels. Regular monitoring may be required during long-term treatment.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Pantoprazole is classified as a Category B drug for pregnancy, meaning it is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy when prescribed by a doctor. However, it is not recommended for breastfeeding without a doctor’s approval.
  • Kidney or Liver Issues: Caution is required in patients with severe liver or kidney disease. Dose adjustments may be necessary.
  • Drug Interactions: Pantoprazole may interact with other medications, particularly warfarin, clopidogrel, ketoconazole, or drugs used for HIV treatment. Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

Important Notes:

  • Side Effects: Common side effects of Pan 20 may include:
    • Headache, diarrhea, or nausea.
    • Abdominal pain or constipation.
    • Dizziness or fatigue.
    • Rare side effects can include allergic reactions, skin rashes, liver problems, and changes in blood counts (such as low magnesium levels).

If you experience severe side effects, such as severe stomach pain, unusual tiredness, or muscle cramps, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

  • Caution with Other Conditions: Pan 20 should be used cautiously in individuals with a history of liver disease or low magnesium levels. If any complications arise, the doctor may alter the dosage or treatment plan.
  • Avoid Crushing or Chewing: Pan 20 tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets, as it may interfere with the release and effectiveness of the medication.
