Composition (per 15 ml)

• Potassium Citrate: 1100 mg

• Magnesium Citrate: 375 mg

• Excipients: q.s.

Mechanism of Action

• Potassium Citrate: Helps restore potassium levels in the body and maintains acid-base balance, reducing the risk of kidney stones.

• Magnesium Citrate: Provides magnesium, which supports muscle, nerve, and heart function, and helps prevent magnesium deficiency.

Together, they support electrolyte balance in individuals with low potassium or magnesium, especially in conditions such as kidney stones, muscle cramps, or electrolyte disturbances.

Therapeutic Indications

K Mac syrup is commonly prescribed for:

• Potassium and magnesium deficiency

• Prevention of kidney stones (urinary alkalizer)

• Support in electrolyte imbalance due to prolonged vomiting, diarrhea, or diuretic therapy

• Muscle cramps or weakness due to low potassium/magnesium

Dosage and Administration

• Recommended dose: Usually 15 ml once or twice daily, or as prescribed by a physician.

• Shake well before use.

• Can be taken with or after meals to reduce stomach irritation.

• Follow doctor’s instructions for duration and dosage adjustments.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to potassium or magnesium salts

• Severe kidney disease or impaired renal function (risk of electrolyte accumulation)

• Hyperkalemia or hypermagnesemia

Precautions

• Use caution in patients with heart disease, kidney disease, or electrolyte imbalances.

• Avoid exceeding the recommended dose.

• Inform your doctor of other medications, particularly diuretics or ACE inhibitors, as these can affect potassium and magnesium levels.

Adverse Effects

• Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort

• Electrolyte imbalance if overdosed: Hyperkalemia (high potassium), hypermagnesemia (high magnesium)

• Rare: Allergic reactions

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place below 25 °C.

• Keep tightly closed, away from direct sunlight.

• Keep out of reach of children.
