  (Sterile solvent to prepare the injectable solution)

Drotin Injection contains Drotaverine, a potent spasmolytic agent that works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-IV, leading to relaxation of smooth muscles. It is commonly used to relieve abdominal, renal, biliary, or uterine colic and is effective in reducing associated pain without affecting normal physiological contractions. The injectable form ensures rapid onset of action, making it suitable for acute episodes of colic or spasm.

Mechanism of Action

• Inhibits phosphodiesterase-IV → increases cAMP in smooth muscle cells

• Causes smooth muscle relaxation

• Reduces visceral pain associated with spasms

• Does not affect skeletal muscles or blood pressure significantly

Indications / Uses

• Abdominal colic (intestinal or biliary)

• Renal colic / ureteric spasm

• Uterine spasm during labor or menstrual cramps

• Gastrointestinal spasm-related pain

Precautions
