Description
CTD-T 6.25/40 Strip of 15 Tablets
Overview
CTD-T 6.25/40 is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Chlorthalidone 6.25 mg and Telmisartan 40 mg. This dual-action formulation is prescribed for the effective management of high blood pressure (hypertension), especially in patients who require more than one medication to achieve optimal blood pressure control. Combining a diuretic with an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) offers enhanced, long-lasting, and stable BP reduction.
Composition
Each uncoated tablet contains:
-
Chlorthalidone IP – 6.25 mg
-
Telmisartan IP – 40 mg
Description
CTD-T 6.25/40 works through two complementary mechanisms:
1. Chlorthalidone (6.25 mg)
A thiazide-like diuretic that helps lower blood pressure by:
-
Increasing urine output
-
Removing excess salt and water
-
Reducing blood volume
-
Lowering pressure on the blood vessels
Even at the low dose of 6.25 mg, Chlorthalidone provides prolonged BP-lowering action for up to 48–72 hours.
2. Telmisartan (40 mg)
An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that:
-
Relaxes blood vessels
-
Prevents narrowing of arteries
-
Reduces strain on the heart
-
Provides 24-hour sustained BP control
Together, these two medicines create a potent antihypertensive effect, offering better results than either drug alone.
