Composition (per gram):

1. Betamethasone Valerate I.P. 0.1% w/w

   • Equivalent to Betamethasone 0.1%

   • A potent corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation, redness, itching, and allergic reactions in skin conditions.

2. Clioquinol I.P. 3.0% w/w

   • Also known as Iodochlorhydroxyquinoline

   • An antibacterial and antifungal agent used for superficial skin infections.

3. Chlorocresol I.P. 0.1% w/w

   • A preservative with mild antimicrobial properties to prevent contamination of the cream.

4. Cream Base

   • A neutral cream base to deliver the active ingredients.

🎯 Indications / Uses:

Betnovate-C is used in the treatment of infected inflammatory skin conditions, including:

• Eczema or dermatitis with secondary bacterial or fungal infection

• Infected psoriasis

• Allergic skin reactions with bacterial/fungal component

• Infected insect bites

• Otitis externa (inflammation of the outer ear)

• Intertrigo (rash in skin folds)

• Tinea infections with inflammation (e.g. athlete’s foot, ringworm), when advised by a physician

✅ It combines anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial actions for mixed bacterial/fungal infections with inflammation.

⚙️ Mechanism of Action:

💊 Dosage and Administration:

Use strictly as directed by a physician.

Typical application:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area 1–2 times daily.

• Gently rub in and wash hands after use (unless hands are the treated area).

• Use for a short duration only—generally not more than 7–14 days.

Important:

• Do not cover with airtight dressings unless advised, as this can increase absorption and risk of side effects.

• Not to be used on face, groin, or broken skin unless under medical supervision.

⚡ Avoid or Use with Caution If:

• Pregnant or breastfeeding – consult a doctor first.

• There is no sign of infection – avoid using steroid-antimicrobial combinations unnecessarily.

• Applying on thin skin areas like face, genitals, or underarms.

• You have a history of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

🚫 Do NOT use:

• For viral skin infections (e.g. herpes, chickenpox)

• On open wounds

• As a general antifungal unless inflammation is also present

• On children <1 year without medical advice

🧪 Side Effects (especially with prolonged or inappropriate use):

• Skin thinning (atrophy)

• Stretch marks (striae)

• Perioral dermatitis

• Skin discoloration

• Increased risk of fungal/bacterial resistance

• Burning, irritation, or allergic reaction at application site
