Ascoril LS is a combination syrup commonly used to treat respiratory conditions such as cough, bronchitis, and other conditions involving excessive mucus production. It is available in a 100 ml bottle and typically used to manage symptoms of respiratory issues like difficulty breathing, chest congestion, and productive coughs.

Active Ingredients in Ascoril LS:

1. Ambroxol (30 mg per 5 ml):
   • Ambroxol is an expectant that helps loosen mucus in the airways, making it easier to clear out phlegm. It works by breaking down the mucus and stimulating the production of surfactant, which helps to keep the lungs and airways moist and clear.
2. Salbutamol (2 mg per 5 ml):
   • Salbutamol is a bronchodilator that works by relaxing the muscles around the airways, which allows the air passages to open up. This action helps to relieve symptoms of bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways), such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness commonly seen in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
3. Guaifenesin (50 mg per 5 ml):
   • Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps to thin and loosen mucus, making it easier to expel from the airways when you cough. It reduces the thickness of mucus, making it less sticky and easier to clear out.
4. Levosalbutamol (1.25 mg per 5 ml):
   • Levosalbutamol is the levo-enantiomer of salbutamol and has a similar action in bronchodilation, helping to relax and open the airways. It is specifically effective in reducing inflammation and relaxing the muscles in the lungs to ease breathing.

Indications:

Ascoril LS syrup is typically prescribed to treat:

• Cough with mucus production: Helps clear mucus from the respiratory tract by thinning and loosening it.
• Bronchospasm: Used to manage asthma, COPD, and other conditions causing constricted airways.

Dosage:

• Ascoril LS Syrup is usually taken as follows:
  • Adults: 10 ml to 15 ml, two to three times a day.
  • Children (6-12 years): 5 ml to 10 ml, two to three times a day.
  • Children (2-6 years): 2.5 ml to 5 ml, two to three times a day.
