Composition:

• Spironolactone IP – 50 mg

Overview

Aldactone 50 contains Spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone antagonist. It helps the body eliminate excess fluid while retaining potassium. It is used in conditions where fluid retention or hormonal imbalances are involved.

Indications:

• Edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome

• Hypertension (especially when used with other antihypertensives)

• Primary hyperaldosteronism

• Hypokalemia (to help raise potassium levels)

• Hormonal acne and PCOS (off-label use in some cases)

Dosage:

• As directed by the physician

• Typically taken once or twice daily

• May be taken with or without food

Precautions:

• Not recommended in patients with hyperkalemia, severe kidney failure, or Addison’s disease
