Composition:

• Azithromycin 1% w/w (10 mg per gram of ointment)

• Excipients: q.s.

Overview

Azithral Eye Ointment contains Azithromycin, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic formulated for ophthalmic use. It is mainly used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis (pink eye) and trachoma. Azithromycin works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria, thereby stopping their growth.

Indications

• Bacterial conjunctivitis

• Trachoma (especially in endemic areas)

• Other infections caused by susceptible organisms

Dosage:

• Use as directed by the physician

• Typically applied in the lower eyelid, once or twice daily depending on severity

How to Apply:

1. Wash hands before applying.

2. Pull down lower eyelid and apply a small amount inside.

3. Close eyes gently for few seconds.

4. Avoid touching the tip to any surface to prevent contamination.

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place between 10°C to 25°C

• Protect from direct sunlight

• Do not freeze

• Keep out of reach of children

Caution:

• For external use only

• Do not use if allergic to azithromycin or macrolide antibiotics

• If irritation, redness, or worsening symptoms occur, contact your physician.
