Histafree M Tablet – Strip of 10 Tablets

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Fexofenadine Hydrochloride IP 120 mg – an antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching.

• Montelukast Sodium IP equivalent to Montelukast 10 mg – a leukotriene receptor antagonist that helps reduce airway inflammation, useful for asthma and allergic rhinitis.

• Excipients: q.s.

Dosage Form and Pharmaceutical Class

• Form: Film-coated oral tablet

• Class: Combination of second-generation antihistamine (Fexofenadine) + leukotriene receptor antagonist (Montelukast)

Mechanism of Action

• Fexofenadine: Blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing allergic symptoms like itching, watery eyes, sneezing, and runny nose.

• Montelukast: Inhibits leukotriene-mediated inflammation in airways and nasal passages, improving asthma control and reducing allergic rhinitis symptoms.

Therapeutic Indications

Histafree M is used to manage:

• Allergic rhinitis (seasonal or perennial)

• Chronic urticaria (hives and itching)

• Asthma (adjunct therapy for controlling airway inflammation)

• Other allergy-related conditions as prescribed by a physician

Dosage and Administration

• Typically one tablet once daily, preferably in the evening.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

• Follow the doctor’s instructions on duration and timing.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine, Montelukast, or any component of the tablet.

• Severe liver impairment (for Montelukast).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver problems.

• Not recommended for children under 2 years (Montelukast) or under 6 years (Fexofenadine) without medical supervision.
